Description: The California Department of Public Health defines gonorrhea as “a common sexually transmitted infection caused by a bacterium called Neisseria gonorrhoeae. Infection can cause serious reproductive health problems, such as pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) and infertility. Gonorrhea also can cause infections in newborn babies. Tests and effective treatments are available.” Here we report 2011 gonorrhea rates for males age 10 to 14 per 100,000 population.
